Urban Cookie Collective
Hinter Urban Cookie Collective (UCC) steht der Keyboarder Rohan Heath (*19.07.1964 in Groß Britanien; er lernte als Kind das klassische Piano spielen) Rohan schrieb die Songs und produzierte sie. Bei der Sängerin handelt es sich um Diane Charlemagne, welche ebenfalls einige der Songs schrieb. Die anderen Mitglieder von UCC sind Simon Bertall (*17.10.1967) und Peter Samson (*15.05.1968). Ebenfalls in UCC integriert waren Marty MC und DJ Pete. Zudem wurden bei den verschiedenen Veröffentlichungen Gastrapper hinzugezogen: "Lovedog" bei "High On A Happy Vibe" und "8 Bar Wizard" bei "Spend The Day".
Nach einer Japantour der Band "Happy Mondays" veröffentlichte Rohan Heath zusammen mit seinem Kollegen Gerald den Track "Hardcore Uproar", welcher es im August 1990 bis auf Platz 12 in den englischen Charts schaffte.
Nach einer kurzen Pause konzentrierte sich Rohan Heath auf seine Soloarbeit und gründete Urban Cookie Collective. UCC gelang im Jahre 1993 der große internationale Durchbruch mit ihrem bis heute bekanntesten Track "The Key: The Secret".
Ursprünglich war der Song als Soul / HipHop Track gedacht, doch glücklicherweise entwickelte sich aus The Key: The Secret ein harmonischer Dancetrack. Nachdem ein Remix des Songs bei den Clubs gut ankam, wurde dieser von "Pulse 8 Records", die zu dieser Zeit ein Doppelalbum veröffentlichten, mit auf die CD genommen. Zudem wurde eine spezielle UK Remix CD herausgebracht.
Die nicht weniger erfolgreiche Nachfolgesingle "Feels Like Heaven" erreichte Platz 12 der Media Control Single Charts in Deutschland.
Nachdem 2003 The Key: The Secret von Phobos & Deimos gecovert wurde und das Sample ebenfalls auf der Love Parade 2003 zu hören war, meldeten sich Urban Cookie Collective wieder zurück.
Und wie sollte es anders sein: Mit dem Song, der 1993 den Durchbruch für UCC bedeutete, erschien am 03.01.2005 eine Neuauflage: "The Key: The Secret 2004".
